'Welcome to Richie's Art. Most of my work to date has been oil on canvas, with occasional pieces in acrylic and mixed media.

I try to delve into diverse topics and styles but a common theme tends to be images with great depth and presence, typically vibrant in colour with a focus on juxtaposition.

Richie Cunningham

Although Richie achieved an 'Advanced Level' qualification in practical art, it was some 22 years before he decided to pick up a paintbrush once again.

​

Initially working with water colours to paint local landscapes, he moved on to oils, a medium he now generally prefers.

​

His fascination with some of the great 20th century artists (including Dali, Dominguez, Duchamp, Ernst, Kandinsky, Picasso, Pollock and Rothko)has greatly influenced his work to date, although he also explores other genres and styles including impressionist, mixed genres, stil life and observational art.

 

Many of his pieces he has on display in his own home, with some of his more recent works now becoming available to purchase.

He has also completed several private commissions on request, some of which are featured on this site.
